Welcome to our society

Altrincham Society of Artists welcomes artists with an interest in drawing and painting in any media. We aim to encourage creativity, learning and enjoyment in a friendly and supportive environment.

The Society has around 160 members and its own studio at Sylvan Grove, Altrincham WA14 4NU. Members participate in informal studio sessions, workshops, demonstrations, life drawing and social events. In the summer, there is also outdoor sketching and painting at locations in in the local area. When there are no planned sessions, members are free to use the studio for personal painting time. The studio is equipped with daylight lighting, easels, tables, a printing press, Wi-Fi, a toilet, a kitchen for teas and coffees and an extensive library.

We celebrate members’ achievements with Exhibitions, a private Facebook group to share our work, an online gallery on ourwebsite, in-studio displays and a twice-yearly newsletter.

If you would like to join our community of enthusiastic and committed artists, please download and complete the application form and send to the membership secretary along with an example of your artwork.

The Society’s events and activities are all organised on a voluntary basis by our members – everyone is encouraged to participate as much as their time, circumstances and abilities allow. We are always happy to hear from new members who would like to volunteer in any capacity and we welcome fresh ideas, skills and initiatives to further develop the Society.

The studio is situated at the back of the Unitarian Church Hall - there is an ASAnotice on the wall. Access is along the garden path to the left of the Hall and up the steps to the door at the back.

We now have an online member’s gallery containing a vast range of work from our talented artists. Most of the work in the gallery is available for sale directly from the artists.
